Ashley Nicole Turner, the recording artist known professionally as Ombrea, appeared briefly in Alleghany County Circuit Court Tuesday morning for a scheduled hearing connected to the death of outlaw-country musician Ridge Conway.
Turner, 31, entered the courtroom wearing a county-issued orange jail uniform and was escorted by two deputies. She appeared composed but visibly tired, speaking only when asked to confirm her identity for the record.
The hearing lasted less than fifteen minutes. Prosecutors requested a continuance, citing the need for additional time to review forensic material, digital records, witness statements, and discovery connected to the Hook River investigation.
Turner’s defense did not object to the continuance. Defense attorney Marcus Halloway told the court his team had only recently received portions of the discovery file and would need time to review the material before moving forward.

Coming SoonNo plea was entered during Tuesday’s appearance. The judge granted the continuance and ordered Turner to remain in custody without bond while both sides prepare for the next stage of proceedings.
Turner is facing charges of first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and concealing a dead body. Authorities allege that evidence collected after Conway’s remains were discovered near the Hook River area eventually led investigators to Turner.
Conway had been the subject of months of speculation following his disappearance. The case intensified after investigators confirmed that remains recovered near Hook River belonged to the singer, whose death has since become one of the most closely watched stories in underground music.
A new hearing date has not yet been publicly announced. Representatives for Unnerving Brain have not issued a statement regarding Turner’s court appearance or the status of Ombrea’s unreleased album, IV.
